Joachim Kundt
Chief Executive Officer, Siemens LLC, Lower Gulf Region
Joachim Kundt is the Chief Executive Officer of Siemens LLC, the regional arm of Siemens AG for the Lower Gulf region which includes UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen.
Kundt joined Siemens’ in 1982, in the Power business. Based in Erlangen in Germany, his role included responsibility for a division of Power Generation in the Middle East and Africa.
He moved to Abu Dhabi, UAE, in 1998 to consolidate the company’s thirty years of presence in the UAE with the establishment of the regional company, Siemens LLC. Kundt’s first term as CEO of Siemens LLC started in 1999, when the company was formed. His tenure during the period saw the company grow from an 80-man operation in 1998 to one that spanned five countries and employed over 800 professionals by 2004.
In 2004, Kundt moved back to Munich in Germany to head Siemens’ corporate strategy division for the Middle East, Africa and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). He returned to head Siemens LLC in April 2007 and has seen it grow to over 1000 employees.
Kundt holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Fachhochschule Niederrhein, Germany. He is a member of GHORFA, the German-Arab Chamber of Commerce, and also of the Emirati-German Friendship Council. Additionally, Kundt is the Chairman of the Board of the German School in Abu Dhabi.
Kundt hails from Rhineland in Northrhinewestphalia, Germany. He is married with two children; is a keen jogger and fan of motor racing and tennis.
